Hello, This is Team Vivek, a group formed under the National Service Scheme (NSS), IIT Kharagpur - a student youth service programme which aims at arousing social consciousness of the youth with an overall objective of personality development of the students through community service.

Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year, 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service. NSS, is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage.

The cardinal principle of the NSS programme is that it is organised by the students themselves, and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building.

The NSS at IIT Kharagpur provides each student with a significant context in which He/She can arrive at a deeper understanding of social reality in India today. The NSS encourages the meaning of the life through service.

By the spirit of seva, the NSS volunteers try to attain to the real knowledge of the person and the environment and to a set of values integral to the Indian way of life.

The Team is jointly headed by Prof. Pradip Bhowmick (NSS Coordinator), Prof. S C Mahapatra (EAA Coordinator), Prof. Goutam Saha (Team Leader and Mentor).
